Trauma casts a shadow over every area of your life—undermining your ability to feel safe, making it hard to trust others, and keeping you trapped in patterns you can’t seem to break. Maybe you experience flashbacks that transport you back to moments of pain and fear, or maybe it’s more subtle—a constant sense of being on edge, difficulty connecting with others, or feeling disconnected from yourself. When people hear “trauma,” they often think of a single traumatic event, but trauma isn’t defined by what happened to you—it’s defined by how your nervous system responded. Whether you experienced an event your brain perceived as a life threat, or you carry deep emotional wounds from relationships that were supposed to keep you safe, the impact is real. Your brain and body are stuck in survival mode, reacting as though the trauma is still happening. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to stay stuck. Healing is possible, and it starts with helping your nervous system finally place these experiences in the past where they belong.
My Approach to Trauma & PTSD
Using body-centered techniques, dance/movement therapy, and a trauma-informed approach rooted in attachment theory and neuroscience, we’ll address the roots of your trauma and help your nervous system release what it’s been holding. We follow a phase-oriented approach designed specifically for trauma healing. First, we’ll build your resilience and coping skills so you can stay present when difficult memories surface—this foundation is essential. Then, depending on whether you’re healing from event trauma or emotional wounding, we’ll use somatic techniques to help your body process and integrate the experience. For event trauma, we’ll work to help your brain place the memory in the past using body-based interventions. For emotional wounds, we’ll identify the part of yourself that was hurt, understand the beliefs you created from that pain, and give that part what it needed but didn’t receive. Throughout this process, your body is the missing link—it holds the key to lasting healing that talk therapy alone can’t access.
